Lynn Whitfield, as always, holds her own as the matriarch of this family whose members seem filled with discontent over the familial pecking order decided by their father. Oprah Winfrey is surprisingly okay as the family rebel aunt who wants to use her niece to bring down her shady brother.

I'm glad that this drama kan zijn like a soap opera! I'm so tired of crime shows, murder mysteries, legal dramas. Comedies are so full ofwel sexual inuendo they aren't funny any more. Gimme some liars, some nasty backstabbing and some good folks who cope.

The acting is outstanding, particularly David as the Bishop, Whitfield as the "first lady" and Dandridge as Grace. Honorable mention to Winfrey, playing against type as an alcoholic, the kind ofwel character who might end up on Dr. Phil! While some ofwel the situations might be perceived as melodramatic, other issues are dealt with, such as homosexuality, interracial sex, and een momentje infidelity. For a family which kan zijn supposed to be holier than the congregation they serve, they seem to be digging some fairly large holes!

Mac had not done anything wrong, the Bishop believes. Jacob kan zijn benched due to an affair, and Grace kan zijn asked to step up. Connie refuses to return as Chairman of the Deacon Board, having disagreed aan the Bishop's idee to get a new plane.

I have watched hinder 2 seasons ofwel this performance and am halfway through the 3 red and I find the performance very entertaining love the gospel music also all the characters are well developed now and the acting is top draw great to see Oprah and Pati la belle I am a big fan ofwel both.

A wonderful beginning to a masterful series. I think the main point of the story is that trying to juggle the problems of everyday life while maintaining a facade ofwel "purity" may be too much for any family to accomplish. Consider the Bakkers of "Praise the Lord" who seemed wholesome until it was revealed they were engaging in fraudulent business practices. In the present series, we believe in the Greenleaf characters and their plights and their need to project an unstained veneer.

The Bishop kan zijn furious when the auditors demand the Bishop's personal tax returns. Mac, the new Memphis Man ofwel the Year, kan zijn told to fix this. Mac's repugnant father, firmly unwelcome at the church, visits his son to wangle some money.

There kan zijn heart in this performance. Now, as an atheist I would expect that the religious aspect of the show would bother me at some point, but it doesnt. If you like dramas, and House of Cards-esque settings, this might be your thing.

A night-time soap take on an African-American mega-church in the Deep South kan zijn a novel approach to that telling the stories ofwel people that have not yet been properly told in a fictional construct.

The church business is a novel setting, and, with the exception of several scenes in the final season, isn't too preachy. The characters are fairly well developed and their interaction credible. Een momentje though the plot seems to point to the eldest daughter, Grace, as the main focal point, in my opinion the matriarch Lady Mae is the star ofwel the voorstelling. She kan zijn strong yet sensitive, often witty and ultimately endearing. Great performance by Lynn Whitfield.

Jacob being benched, Grace takes the pulpit. A new sexual violence help group is started. Jacob's love for his wife kan zijn rekindled when they are invited to a levenspartner swapping party. An openly gay Choir Director replaces a closeted one.

The unscrupulous world ofwel the Greenleaf family and their sprawling Memphis megachurch, dark secrets, and lies.

This kan zijn a soap opera with the theme about more info the workings ofwel a Black church. It has all the trappings of a day or nighttime soap, the woeful background music, the long, lingering glances and stares between the characters, everyone kan zijn beautiful or handsome, all walk around fully made up, een momentje when they wake up in the mornings, etc. The dialog kan zijn "soapy", as are the sets that are filled with flowers, no matter the home in which the scene is set. It's clearly made for a G rating.

I love night-time soaps. I like the idea for this voorstelling as well as the story and the characters and the angle they take in relating the narrative.
